An iOS application, the RTL-SDR Software Defined Radio receiver app offers functionality to tune into AM, FM, SSB, and CW radio signals. Additionally, users can analyze an RF spectrum and waterfall display. To enable connectivity with networked RTL-SDR USB peripherals, the app interfaces through the rtl_tcp network protocol.

The operational setup of this application involves the necessity of an external rtl_tcp server. Given that iOS devices do not currently support the direct linkage of USB peripherals like an RTL-SDR, the utilization of this app mandates access to a server environment, such as a Raspberry Pi or Mac. The server should have an RTL-SDR device connected to its USB port and be executing the rtl_tcp protocol at a TCP/IP network address that is reachable from the iOS device. This configuration effectively permits a Raspberry Pi or Mac to serve as the USB interface for the iOS device.

Furthermore, the rtl_tcp SDR application can establish connections with other servers such as hfp_tcp for Airspy HF+, rsp_tcp for SDRPlay devices, and lmm_tcp for LimeSDR Mini.
